Man extradited from Western Australia over alleged domestic violence offences

A man has been extradited from Western Australia and charged with an outstanding warrant over alleged domestic violence offences.

In December 2023, police attached to Cumberland Police Area Command commenced an investigation following reports a man allegedly assaulted a woman known to him in New South Wales before he travelled to Western Australia.

Following extensive enquiries, a 39-year-old man was arrested in Perth on Thursday (26 September 2024), with assistance from Western Australia Police.

He appeared before the Magistrates Court of Western Australia on Friday (27 September 2024), where an application for extradition was granted.

The man, accompanied by NSW Police officers, arrived at Sydney Airport on Saturday (28 September 2024), after which he was taken to Mascot Police Station, where the outstanding warrant was executed.

The 39-year-old was charged with take/detain person with intent to obtain advantage causing actual bodily harm (DV), assault occasioning actual bodily harm (DV) and intentionally choke etc person with recklessness (DV).

He was refused bail to appear before Parramatta Local Court on Sunday (29 September 2024), where he was refused bail to appear before the same court on Thursday 7 November 2024.
