A man has been charged following an alleged assault in Sydney’s CBD this morning.
Police have been told a 33-year-old woman was in George Street about 4am (Sunday 23 January 2022), when she was allegedly punched to the ground then punched and kicked by a man.
Bystanders intervened and stopped the alleged assault. Officers from Sydney City Police Area Command were called to the scene and arrested a man nearby.
He was taken to Day Street Police Station where he was charged with assault causing actual bodily harm.
The 24-year-old man has been refused bail to appear in Parramatta Bail Court this morning.
The woman was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics for bruising and swelling.
