Man in court over aggravated indecent assault of boy in Lakemba

A man will appear in court today after being charged by detectives investigating the alleged aggravated indecent assault of a boy in Sydney’s south west.

Last month, detectives from the State Crime Command’s Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad commenced an investigation following reports a boy was indecently assaulted by a man known to him when he was at a home at Lakemba.

Following extensive investigations, detectives arrested a 29-year-old man at Campsie Police Station about 9am today (Thursday 10 October 2019).

He was charged with indecent assault person under 16 years of age.

Police will allege in court that the man indecently assaulted the boy – then aged six – between December 2013 and January 2014.

The man was refused bail to appear at Burwood Local Court today.

The Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad is comprised of detectives who are specially trained to investigate matters against children and adults, including sexual assault, serious physical abuse, and extreme cases of neglect.
