Man in critical condition after three-vehicle crash near Campbelltown, NSW

A man is in a critical condition following a crash near Campbelltown last night.

Just before 11.30pm (Tuesday 19 November 2019), emergency services were called to the Hume Highway near the St Andrews Road overpass, Varroville, following reports of a three-vehicle crash.

Police have been told a Holden Commodore and Toyota Corolla were stationary in one lane when it appears a third car, a Nissan X-trail, hit the two cars from behind.

The driver of the Commodore, a 30-year-old man, was treated at the scene before being taken to Liverpool Hospital in a critical condition.

The female driver of a Toyota Corolla – aged 28 – and male driver of the X-trail – aged 72 – were also treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Liverpool Hospital, both in a stable condition.

Officers from Campbelltown City Police Area Command established a crime scene, which was examined by specialist police from the Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit.
