A man is in a stable condition after being shot in Sydney’s west overnight.
About 9pm yesterday (Thursday 7 August 2026), officers attached to Bankstown Police Area Command attended Mimosa Road, Greenacre, after reports of a public place shooting.
On arrival, police were told an 18-year-old man had been shot twice in the chest on nearby Banksia Street, before being driven to Mimosa Street where emergency services located him.
He was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to hospital in a stable condition.
Police established a crime scene at both locations, seizing the car the man was driven in – a Skoda SUV – for forensic examination and speaking to the driver.
About 3am today (Friday 7 August 2026), emergency services were called to Celia Street, Granville, following reports of a car fire.
Officers attached to Cumberland Police Area Command attended and found that a Toyota Hilux had been set alight.
Fire and Rescue NSW attended and extinguished the blaze; however, the vehicle was significantly damaged.
A third crime scene was established on Celia Street with investigators treating the incident as linked to the earlier shooting.
Investigations into the matter are continuing.
