Man in Western Australia charged over visa breach

An Iranian man expected to appear in Northbridge Magistrates Court tomorrow (26 December, 2023), for allegedly failing to complying with his visa mandated curfew.

The AFP arrested and charged the man, 38, on December 24, 2023, after locating him at a Perth property.

It will be alleged the man breached the conditions of his Commonwealth visa on 24 December, 2023, by failing to observe his residential curfew obligations.

The man has been charged with:

  • One count of fail to comply with a curfew condition, contrary to section 76C(1) of the Migration Act 1958 (Cth).

This offence carries a maximum penalty of 5 years’ imprisonment and a $93,900 fine.
