Man injured after contact with ute at Tamworth, NSW

Police are appealing for assistance after a man sustained serious head injuries after coming into contact with a ute in Tamworth.

About 12:50am (Monday 22 April 2019), it’s believed the man was leaning against the tray of a white dual cab utility which had stopped on Brisbane Street, before it moved forward causing the man to fall and hit his head on the road.

He was taken to Tamworth Base Hospital and treated for a fractured skull, before later being airlifted to John Hunter Hospital in a stable condition. The man was discharged from hospital today (Wednesday 24 April).

Officers from Oxley Police District are asking for the help of anyone who may have witnessed or have information regarding the incident, as they continue their inquiries to locate the utility and its driver.

The vehicle is described as having a tool box and various other boxes on the rear cab, a roof rack on top and what appears to be a sign folded back over the cab area.

Anyone with such information is urged to contact Tamworth Police Station.
