Man injured in serious crash in Murrumbidgee

A man has been injured in a single-vehicle truck crash in the state’s Murrumbidgee region overnight.

About 11.30pm (Tuesday 11 January 2022), emergency services were called to the Sturt Highway at Darlington Point, following a prime mover, towing two empty trailers, had left the roadway and hit a tree.

Officers attached to Murrumbidgee Police District attended the scene, alongside firefighters from Fire and Rescue NSW and NSW Rural Fire Service as well as the NSW Volunteer Rescue Association.

The driver and sole occupant – a 30-year-old man – was freed from the prime mover and treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being airlifted to Canberra Hospital, with non-life-threatening injuries. He remains in a stable condition.

An investigation is underway into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

As inquiries continue, police are appealing to anyone who may have information or dashcam footage of the incident to come forward.
