Man on 23 charges after break-ins across city, Northern Beaches

A man is due in court on 23 charges relating to alleged break-ins in across the Sydney metropolitan area since May this year.

In May 2026, officers attached to Northern Beaches Police Area Command commenced an investigation following reports of multiple break and enters in the Northern Beaches and South Sydney areas.

Police were told between May 2026 and July 2026, 11 locations in Manly Vale, Balgowlah, Manly, Seaforth, Rosebery and Mascot were broken into with two motorcycles, three e-bikes, a desktop computer, a dashcam device, keys, a wallet, and a handbag were stolen.

Inquiries indicated the incidents were linked, with items stolen estimated to be worth about $64,000.

Police established multiple crime scenes and commenced an investigation into the incident.

Following inquiries, about 5pm on Friday 10 July 2026, officers from the Northern Beaches Proactive Crime Team, with the assistance of officers attached to Auburn Police Area Command, arrested a 29-year-old man on Waterways Street, Wentworth Point.

He was initially taken to Concord Hospital for medical treatment under police guard.

About 11.15pm the same day, officers executed a search warrant at the Wentworth Point home where they seized items which police will allege were stolen from locations throughout the period.

Yesterday (Saturday 11 July 2026), the man was released from hospital and taken to Burwood Police Station where he was charged with 23 offences,

  • Enter inclosed land not prescribed premises without lawful excuse (five counts)
  • Larceny (four counts)
  • Enter vehicle or boat without consent of owner/occupier
  • Break and enter dwelling-house etc with intent (two counts)
  • Steal motor vehicle (two counts)
  • Break and enter house etc steal value less than or equal to $60,000 (five counts)
  • Supply prohibited drug more than indictable and less than commercial quantity, and
  • Dishonestly obtain financial advantage etc by deception (three counts)

He has been refused bail to appear at Bail Division Court 7 today (Sunday 12 July 2026).
