Man robbed and stabbed in Manly

A man has been hospitalised after being seriously injured during a street robbery at Manly today.

About 5.30pm (Wednesday 13 March 2019), a 23-year-old male tourist, was walking up the stairs along Upper Gilbert Street, Manly, where he was threatened by three unknown boys aged in their late teens, before being stabbed with a knife to the head.

Police have been told the teens threatened the man, demanding his wallet and mobile phone, before fleeing the scene empty-handed.

The teens were last seen running along Upper Gilbert Street, near Tower Street.

The injured man presented himself to Manly Hospital with a serious head injury. He will undergo surgery at a later date.

Officers from Northern Beaches Police Area Command were notified and have commenced investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

As inquiries continue, anyone with information is urged to come forward.
