Man seriously injured after two vehicle crash at Blue Mountains, NSW

A man has been taken to hospital with serious injuries following a two-vehicle crash in the Blue Mountains earlier today.

About 7.30am (Wednesday 28 July 2021), emergency services responded to reports of a crash between a truck towing a trailer and a bus, at the intersection of the Great Western Highway and Somers Street at Lawson.

The driver of the truck – a 24-year-old man – was trapped in the vehicle before being released by officers from Police Rescue and NSW Fire & Rescue.

He was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being air lifted to Westmead Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

A male passenger in the truck suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene.

The driver of the bus – a 62-year-old man – and passenger – a 12-year-old boy – also suffered minor injuries and were treated at the scene.

Officers from Blue Mountains Police Area Command attended and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

As inquiries continue, officers are appealing for anyone who have witnessed the crash, or has dashcam footage of the incident, to come forward.
