An investigation is underway after a man was stabbed in Sydney’s south-west overnight.
Emergency services were called to Macquarie Street, Liverpool, about 2.20am (Sunday 8 September 2024), where they found a man with a wound to his chest.
NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the 44-year-old at the scene before he was taken to Liverpool Hospital in a stable condition.
Police have been told the man was stabbed multiple times when he attempted to intervene after witnessing a man allegedly assaulting a woman in a parked car.
The injured man is not believed to be known to the pair.
Officers from Liverpool City Police Area Command established a crime scene that was examined by specialist police and commenced an investigation.
Police have since spoken to the woman involved in the alleged assault; she was not injured.
