Man stabbed during attempted armed robbery at Tamworth, NSW

Police are investigating after a man was stabbed during an attempted armed robbery in the state’s north-east.

About 2pm yesterday (Wednesday 31 July 2019), a man entered a Tamworth home and threatened the male occupant with a knife, demanding money.

A scuffle ensued during which the male occupant was stabbed twice to the neck.

Officers attached to Oxley Police District attended immediately and established a crime scene.

Police believe the man left the scene in a 2000 model red Mazda 626 sedan.

Ambulance NSW attended and took the injured man to Tamworth Hospital. He remains in a stable condition to be taken to John Hunter Hospital at Newcastle for further treatment.

The man has been described as of medium build, Aboriginal/ Torres Strait Islander in appearance, with medium-length dark hair, a moustache and goatee, wearing a white jumper.
