Man stabbed during carjacking at Albury, NSW

A man will face court tomorrow (Thursday 31 October 2019) following a string of incidents in the state’s far south.

About 12.30pm Monday (28 October 2019) a man was approached by another man in the driveway of a property on Sunwood Drive, Lavington.

Police will allege a 26-year-old man – armed with a tomahawk and knife – forced the other man into the house, before cutting his wrist with the knife and demanding the keys to his BMW sedan.

The man complied and sustained multiple cuts to his arms and hands as a result of the incident.

The matter was not reported to police at the time.

About 4.45pm yesterday (Tuesday 29 October 2019), the allegedly stolen BMW sedan, bearing plates believed to be stolen, was involved in a second incident on Olive Street, Albury.

The driver of the BMW sedan gestured for the driver of a Subaru Impreza to pull over, before allegedly producing a knife and throwing it at the passenger, who was filming outside the car at the time.

The passenger was able to duck and the knife allegedly hit the door of the car, resulting in minor damage. The BMW sedan drove away along Dean Street, Albury.

About 12am today (Wednesday 30 October 2019), police located the man at a property on Driver Terrace Glenroy.

On sighting police, the man engaged in a short foot pursuit. The man was located at a property on Resolution Street, Glenroy shortly after and arrested.

He was taken to Albury Police Station where he was later charged with the following offences:

– robbery armed with offensive weapon;

– take person in company with intent to commit serious indictable offence;

– assault occasioning actual bodily harm in company of others;

– armed with intent to commit indictable offences

– drive conveyance taken without consent of owner

– drive motor vehicle during disqualification period

– use offensive weapon with intent to commit indictable offence

– stalk/intimidate intend fear physical etc harm

– malicious damage; and

– drive recklessly/furiously or speed manner dangerous.

The man was refused bail and is due to face Albury Local Court tomorrow (31 October 2019).
