Man stabbed; investigation underway in Mascot

Police are investigating after a man was stabbed in South Sydney overnight.

About 2.15am (Saturday 24 October 2020), emergency services were called to a home on Robey Street, Mascot, following reports of a stabbing.

Officers attached to South Sydney Police Area Command attended to find a 60-year-old man suffering stab wounds to his left thigh and lower back.

He was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to St Vincent’s Hospital in a serious condition.

Police have been told the injured man had been at a neighbour’s home when he was involved in an altercation with a man known to him.

A crime scene has been established and inquiries are underway to locate a man who may be able to assist with inquiries.

The man is described as being of Caucasian appearance, age in his 40s, about 170-175cm tall and of a medium build.

He was last seen wearing a light-coloured t-shirt, dark-coloured shorts, a white baseball cap and was seen leaving in a white Mitsubishi Triton utility, with NSW registration YGB-09V.

Police are urging anyone with information on his whereabouts or which may assist investigators to contact Crime Stoppers immediately.
