Man to face court after drugs and firearm found during vehicle stop at Wagga Wagga, NSW

Proactive police work has seen a man charged after being found with a firearm, drugs, and other prohibited items in Wagga Wagga yesterday.

About 10.50am (Saturday 6 April 2019), officers attached to Wagga Wagga Highway Patrol stopped a black Holden Commodore utility on Dobney Avenue, Wagga Wagga, and spoke with the 41-year-old male driver and sole occupant.

Due to the man’s suspicious behaviour, a search of the vehicle was conducted, with police seizing:

  • Crystal and liquid substances believed to be methylamphetamine
  • Drug implements
  • A handgun, knife, an electronic control device, and a modified golf club
  • Handcuffs
  • Mobile phones

Upon searching the man, police seized a crystal substance believed to be methylamphetamine, and a drug implement.

He was arrested and taken to Wagga Wagga Police Station, where he was charged with 11 offences, including supply prohibited drug, possessing a drug implement, being in custody of a knife, and possessing an unregistered firearm without safe storage or a permit.

He was refused bail to appear at Wagga Wagga Bail Court today (Sunday 7 April 2019).
