Man to face court over child exploitation material, South Australia

Detectives from SAPOL’s Public Protection Branch Special Crime Investigation Section yesterday arrested a 24-year-old man from the northern suburbs for producing child exploitation material (aggravated), disseminating child exploitation material (aggravated) and possessing child exploitation material (aggravated).

The arrest came as a result of information received from the Australian Centre to Counter Child Exploitation (ACCCE) Operation Molto.

Police will allege that some of the offences involved his own child.

The man was refused police bail and will appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on Monday.

Members of the public who have any information about people involved in child exploitation are urged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or online at https://crimestopperssa.com.au/ You can remain anonymous.

‘THIS IS CHILD EXPLOITATION, NOT ‘CHILD PORNOGRAPHY’

Use of the phrase ‘child pornography’ actually benefits child sex abusers:

* It indicates legitimacy and compliance on the part of the victim and therefore legality on the part of the abuser

* It conjures up images of children posing in ‘provocative’ positions, rather than suffering horrific abuse

Every photograph captures an actual situation where a child has been abused. This is not pornography.
