Man wanted charged at Moree

A man will face court today on outstanding warrants after being arrested in the state’s north yesterday.

Just after 4pm (Tuesday 22 August 2023), officers attached to New England Police District were patrolling Moree, when they sighted a man – wanted on outstanding arrest warrants – on George Street.

As police approached the man he fled; however, was arrested a short time later following a struggle.

During a search of the man, police allegedly located and seized methylamphetamine in his possession. The 29-year-old man was taken to Moree Police Station and charged with

  • hinder or resist police officer in the execution of duty,
  • possess prohibited drug,
  • goods in personal custody suspected being stolen,
  • contravene prohibition/restriction in AVO, and
  • breach of bail.

Six outstanding arrest warrants were also executed for property and domestic violence-related offences.

He was refused bail to appear at Armidale Local Court today (Wednesday 23 August 2023).
