Man with knife robs Tuncurry service station, NSW

Police are appealing for public assistance after a man armed with a knife robbed a Tuncurry service station of cash and cigarettes.

Officers from Manning-Great Lakes Police District have been told a 25-year-old woman was working the till about 6.40am (Sunday 24 March 2019), when she was approached by a man wearing a bike helmet and armed with a knife.

The man directed her to fill a bag with cash and cigarettes before leaving the scene on a motorcycle.

Police were called and established a crime scene, with a description of the motorcycle and rider broadcast.

About two hours later, a motorcycle matching that description was seen being ridden along Cabarita Avenue but when police attempted to stop the rider, the bike was dropped and the rider fled on foot.

Checks have now revealed the motorbike was stolen from Newcastle West on Thursday 7 March 2019.
