A joint operation by the Queensland Police Service and the Australian Border Force has resulted in the seizure of allegedly domestically manufactured weapons, as part of Operation Adestria.
Officers from the Firearms and Cannabis Team (FACT) executed warrants at two properties in Edens Landing and Mount Nathan on June 8, subsequently resulting in the arrest of two people alleged to be involved in the unlawful firearm manufacture.
A search of the Edens Landing address allegedly located a crossbow, slingbow, braced slingbow, and a quantity of items used to manufacture firearms.
While the search of a Mount Nathan property allegedly uncovered a domestically made shotgun and pistol, seven domestically made firearm barrels, plans and items used to manufacture firearms, as well as ammunition.
The investigation was brought to QPS attention by the Australian Border Force, which identified items of interest being imported through air and sea cargo between 2018 and 2023.
A 51-year-old Edens Landing man has been charged with one count each of possessing Category M weapons (cross bows and flick knife) and importing Tier 2 Goods (firearm parts).
He was given a notice to appear before Beenleigh Magistrates Court on July 12.
A 72-year-old Mount Nathan man has been charged with one count each of unlawfully possessing Category H weapons and manufacturing Category H weapons whilst not licenced (handgun).
He was given a notice to appear before Southport Magistrates Court on August 1.
