Marine search and rescue, Gloucester Passage (Whitsundays)

Last night Whitsunday Water Police conducted a search for a missing vessel believed to be in the Gloucester Passage area.

At about 7pm, police were notified of a phone call made to a nearby resort seeking urgent assistance from a vessel in trouble.

Water police and air assets conducted a search last night, however were unsuccessful. It is unclear where the phone call originated from and what type of vessel is involved.

The search will continue today at 6am with police and joint resources.
