Mark Webber opens upgraded circuit for local racers in Fairbairn Park

ACT’s motorsport community will benefit from a modernised and extended kart racing track at the Circuit Mark Webber with support from the ACT Government.

The Canberra Kart Racing Club will be able to host national and international events on what is now one of the best tracks in Australia.

The ACT Government has provided a $200,000 investment towards the improvements, which were staged over the past few months to avoid disruption.

International star, nine-time Formula One Grand Prix winner and Queanbeyan local, Mark Webber officially opened the upgraded track in Fairbairn Park today.

Mark Webber’s success highlights the support of the local motorsport community and these improvements will provide more opportunities for aspiring racers to develop the confidence to consider a career as a professional driver.

Thank you to Mark for taking the time to officially re-open the circuit just in time for the Club Championships, which kick off in April.

I invite all Canberrans to come and try the new extended track and see if they have what it takes to be a motorsport champion.

As stated by Bob Harnas, President of the Canberra Kart Racing Club:

Canberra Kart Racing Club (CKRC) is incredibly proud to showcase the 350m extension to Circuit Mark Webber, we think this is a massively exciting result for Karting and Canberra.

CKRC could not have achieved this result without the support of the ACT Government, Minister’s Berry and Gentleman, Sport and Recreation ACT and our partner D-Group.

CKRC would like to thank these partners and also the dedicated group of committee members, volunteers and club members; many of whom committed many hours of time and expertise to delivering this project.
