Two great opportunities to immerse in Aboriginal Culture are coming up this December.

T.R.A.I.L Blaze Café – Saturday 12 and 19 December

Designed to introduce SA’s regional First Nations performing artists residing in Peramangk, Narungga and Ngadjuri country to the heart of Port Adelaide, T.R.A.I.L Blaze Café will be on Saturday December 12 and 19 from 4.30-8pm.

The aim is to bring regional First Nation artists to the city, raising profiles and to reconnect our First Nation communities and artists. Anyone can attend- the First Nations community, Local Port Adelaide Enfield community, and fellow artists to come along and enjoy.

Held at Mixed Creative laneway, Nile Street Port Adelaide, there will be laidback vibes, cool music, culture and poetry by some gifted writers. The first nations artists featured are:

– Kuko

– Eskatology

– Stand Strong, an emerging group launching their new track.

– Ali Cobby Eckermann who will be sharing poetry with spoken word

– Performing artist Sonya Rankine

Iwiri Christmas Market – Saturday 12 December

The Iwiri community’s Christmas Market provides an opportunity to ethically purchase paintings and jewellery made by the Anangu community. All sales made at this event support the wellbeing of Anangu Community living in Adelaide. Iwiri is a member-based Aboriginal Corporation for Anangu (Pitjantjatjara/Yankunytjatjara people) who live in Adelaide. Iwiri brings the Anangu community together through the lenses of: The Arts, Language, Knowledge, Culture and Community. Opening hours are 2-6pm near Mixed Creative on Nile Street, Port Adelaide.
