Marrara Sports Masterplan Tender Awarded

Territorians are set to benefit from better sport and recreation facilities with the development of a Marrara Sporting Precinct Masterplan.

The Northern Territory Government has awarded local consultant Hames Sharley the $361,107 contract to draft a masterplan which will provide a roadmap for improved sporting infrastructure for Territorians, while establishing the Precinct as an iconic sporting facility for the Northern Territory.

The Marrara Sports Precinct Masterplan will include:

detailed planning for each identified stadium to cater to current and future participation requirements and support major eventsconsiderations to address several areas including, drainage, utilities, wayfinding, shade and landscaping, outdoor active recreation, and pedestrian accessassessment of existing infrastructure and building/asset conditions to inform decisions on master planning and costingincorporating individual sporting venues and active recreation facilities into the broader precinctdetermining requirements for facilities in case of events overlapping with regular sporting activities.

The masterplan will ensure the precinct meets current and future community needs by improving the infrastructure to support more engagement with sport and recreation activities in the region for years to come.
