Cessnock City Council is pleased to announce that the hugely popular free mattress drop-off event will take place on Saturday 29 January from 8am to 2pm.

The event will be held at a new location at the Mount View Basin car park on Mount View Road, Cessnock (opposite Mount View High School).

Cessnock City residents will be able to dispose of up to four mattresses or bases, completely free of charge.

This year, residents will be required to register to take part, which can be done by visiting the events page on our website.

Cessnock City Mayor, Councillor Jay Suvaal, is encouraging residents to take advantage of the mattress drop-off event.

“This event is always really popular with our community and it’s also great for our environment as 75% of the materials will be recycled.”

This event is for Cessnock City Council residents only and proof of address is required via a driver’s licence or rates notice. Mattress drop-offs must also be made using a vehicle as there will be no pedestrian access.

If you’re unable to attend the drop-off event, mattresses can be taken to the Cessnock Waste Management Centre for disposal for a fee of $38.

For more information about the disposal of mattresses or other household waste, please visit the Disposal of other household waste page on our website.
