The Maude Street Revitalisation Project extends from Ashendon Street to High Street and was completed in four stages between January 2019 and August 2021, with a total investment of more than $8.5 million.

The works were completed by local contractors Jarvis Delahey Contractors, Moretto Building and Mawsons Construction with each stage funded by Greater Shepparton City Council and the Australian Government’s Building Better Regions Fund. Additional funding was provided by Public Transport Victoria for Stage 2 of the works, which includes the bus interchange and pedestrian crossing.

Key upgrades include the public facilities and plaza, new eight bay bus interchange, raised pedestrian crossing, conversion of on-street parking to parallel parking on both sides of the road and converting the Maude and Vaughan Street roundabout to traffic lights to improve traffic flow and safety for pedestrians.

In addition, drainage, gas and water upgrades, new road pavement and marking, installation of street and pedestrian lighting, streetscaping and footpath works were also completed.

Greater Shepparton City Council Mayor, Kim O’Keeffe said the Maude Street Revitalisation Project is a key pillar of our overall vision of redeveloping the Shepparton CBD to help support and create jobs, grow visitation and economic stimulation for our region.

“This project builds on recent redevelopments including the Vaughan Street precinct and the Maude St Mall revitalisation project due for completion later in the year,” she said.

“Businesses in the Maude Street Mall are trading as usual during construction of the revitalisation project and I encourage everyone to continue to visit their favourite businesses.”

Federal Member for Nicholls, Damian Drum said the Maude Street Revitalisation Project is a key component of modernising Shepparton’s central business district.

“The Federal Government’s Building Better Regions Fund contributed $1.7 million for this redevelopment, and a further $8.5 million for the Maude Street Mall project, and I’m proud to have helped deliver more than $10 million for the revitalisation of Shepparton’s CBD,” Mr Drum said.

“I can’t wait to see the benefits of the entire Maude Street upgrade when it is completed later this year. Businesses in the area are trading as normal during construction and I encourage everyone to shop local wherever possible.”

This project received funding of $1.7 million from the Australian Government’s Building Better Regions Fund and $268,600 from Public Transport Victoria for Stage 2 works.
