Mayor Tom Tate today announced several City assets would reopen this Saturday in line with the easing of Queensland Government restrictions.
“We are getting back to business, but in a staged and safe way,” Mayor Tate said.
The following will reopen or are resuming:
- Playgrounds, gym equipment, and barbecues
- Skate parks, outdoor basketball courts
- Sports fields for groups of 10 or less
- Park bookings (for up to 10 people)
- Free tree scheme
- Tourist parks for essential travellers
- Parking meters will be switched on and normal enforcement will occur
- Community Centres for essential services
- Broadwater Parklands, is open except for the bouncy pillow
He said there was still work to be done to ensure a staged opening of Aquatic Centres, Libraries and Indoor Sports centres could occur.
“We need to look closely at these services and the best way to reopen them – for example I can see us opening Aquatic Centres to elite athletes first,” he said.
