Citizens of the Year, and the Future.

The year is closing in fast and it’s time to honour the dedication and hard work of our community members and groups who turn our Shire’s cogs of success.

Nominations for Citizen, Young Citizen and the Community Award of the Year are closing on Sunday 29 October. It’s time to reward those who expect no recognition; those who go about their business with passion to make their town or community a better place.

Current Citizen of the Year – Tony Macer was recognised as a leader in climate action who has not only pushed for sustainable energy across our Shire but has also increased our number of passionate volunteers with his infectious enthusiasm. Do you know someone like that?

Current Young Citizen of the Year Hannah Lanfranchi was recognised as an exceptional ‘all-rounder’ who was involved in the Girl Guides, sporting clubs, helping at St Vinnies, the primary school breakfast program, Rotary, and is recognised as an excellent student. Who’s the young person you think of when we look at Hannah through 2023?

We need to recognise the people who have the talent to make a difference, by praising them with a nomination for recognition on Australia Day.

It is these special people with that gumption, that talent for leadership who we need guiding and supporting our community in the future. They may one day become Councillors, local members of Parliament, even senators, with our support and encouragement right now.
