Mayor encourages residents to celebrate at Community Christmas Meal event

The City of Greater Bendigo is encouraging residents who may be alone, feel isolated, or who are facing financial difficulties this Christmas to register to attend one of the free Community Christmas Meal events taking place in December.

Greater Bendigo Mayor Cr Andrea Metcalf said the community meal events are always well attended and aim to connect people who are disadvantaged or need company over the festive period.

“We know that COVID-19 has brought a lot of change and new challenges for many people and these are free events that would not be possible without the generous support from local businesses and volunteers from our municipality,” Cr Metcalf said.

“We are fortunate in Greater Bendigo to have great community groups supporting residents who may not have people to celebrate with during the festive season.”

The following organisations are hosting events, registrations are essential and interested people should contact the event organiser if they would like to attend for catering purposes:
