Mayor’s Charity Golf Day tees off for kids

The 2019 Mayor’s Charity Golf Day will be held tomorrow (7 June), raising money for two children’s charities – Triple M’s Give Me 5 for Kids and Ronald McDonald House Charities North Australia.

It will be a full house, with 144 players to tee-off in a four-player Ambrose at the picturesque Half Moon Bay Golf Club in Yorkeys Knob.

All players tee-off at 9am.

Acting Mayor Terry James said the charity golf day was a great way for the community to give back while having a bit of fun.

“Having a child with a serious illness is difficult, but these two wonderful charities help to lighten the load for families at a challenging time,” Cr James said.

“We’re aiming to raise over $40,000 to help these charities continue with their important work.”

Give Me 5 for Kids raises money for the Far North Queensland Hospital Foundation to purchase equipment for the paediatric wards of hospitals in the region.

Run nationally by Southern Cross Austereo, Give Me 5 for Kids has raised more than $25.9million over the past 25 years.

Ronald McDonald House Charities North Australia provides family accommodation adjacent to major hospitals allowing families to be close to their seriously ill children.

The charity also runs the Palm Cove family retreat and provides educational assistance via its Learning Program.
