Mayor’s event to benefit youth

Bass Coast Shire Mayor, Cr Brett Tessari, is hosting a Mayoral Benefit Concert in October to raise money for YES Youth Hub.

The night will be a musical celebration, featuring some of Bass Coast’s most talented young artists and hosted by one of Australian’s favourite comedians, Lawrence Mooney (pictured).

The event will be held on Saturday, 12 October at the Wonthaggi Union Community Arts Centre from 6.30pm.

Cr Tessari said the line-up for the event includes up-and-coming singer-songwriter Maddy May, award-winning classical pianist Josh Hooke and the future-soul sounds of the Emma Volard Band.

“The night will also feature short films, guest speakers, art and a raffle you won’t want to miss,” Cr Tessari said.

“All proceeds from the event will go directly to the YES Youth Hub, which is set to open its doors for the first time in the coming weeks. The YES Youth Hub is a collaborative project driven by passionate individuals and organisations in our community, fuelled by the vision to provide a space to help young people thrive.

“YES stands for ‘Youth Enterprise Space’ and will provide a wide range of services: education, connection, friendship, safe space, access to services and opportunities,” Cr Tessari concluded.

Tickets for the event are $45 and now available through www.trybooking.com or at the Art Centre box office during business hours, Monday to Friday between 10.00am and 4.00pm.

“This fundraiser is a unique opportunity for the Bass Coast community to get together and support the region’s youth,” Cr Tessari said.

“Everyone’s invited and I hope to see you there! Make sure you get in fast – it’s one night only and tickets are limited!”
