MCIU charge man after July Port Melbourne fatal crash

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man following a motorcycle crash in Port Melbourne last July.

Detectives charged the 49-year-old today with multiple offences including culpable driving, dangerous driving causing death, reckless conduct endangering life, drive motor vehicle in race on highway, exceeding speed limit and careless driving.

The Williamstown man was bailed to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 29 May.

It is understood two motorcycles were travelling south along the Bolte Bridge about 10pm on 15 July when both bikes took the exit ramp towards the Burnley Tunnel and one lost control around a bend and crashed into a side barrier about 10pm.

A 32-year old Highett man died at the scene.
