Stage 1 of the Mclaren Parade upgrade has been completed.
We are transforming this street into an inviting premium boulevard that links to other projects in the area and will create a high-quality public realm in and around the riverfront. McLaren Parade will be converted into a one-way street with the removal of kerbing to create a low-speed environment that prioritises pedestrians and cyclists.
We are increasing streetscape greening and canopy coverage with shading, reduced hardscape and more wind protection, while adding public spaces and street furniture that encourage people to gather. To finish off the project there will be new public art that is representative of the area.
The second stage of this project will begin after the new Rydges Hotels & Resorts Rydges on the Wharf Hotel is constructed.
The total estimated cost for the entire project is $1.85 million, with $600,000 from the State Government Open Spaces and Places Grant Program, and the rest funded by the City of PAE. Thanks to Gilli Contractors for completing this work for us and sending through the pic.
