Measures on public buses to guard against COVID-19 spread

Department of Infrastructure, Planning and Logistics

The Northern Territory Government and bus contractors are enacting measures on public buses to protect against the spread of COVID-19.

Bus travel is now free across the Territory’s public network, eliminating the need for cash transactions.

Posters are being displayed in all public buses to convey the message to;

• Give your driver and other passengers space

• Don’t sit next to or close to each other on the bus

• Keep at least 1.5 metres from others where possible

Front seats in buses are being blocked out to maintain distance between passengers and drivers.

Daily cleaning and sanitisation measures are being enacted in public buses by contractors.

Most recent advice from the Australian Government on preventing gatherings within a single enclosed area does not include public transport, which is an essential service.
