MEINHARDT AUSTRALIA ANNOUNCES NATIONAL APPOINTMENT

Meinhardt Australia is proud to announce the appointment of Adelaide- based strategic innovator Darren Bilsborough to the national role of Building Services Director ANZ.

Widely regarded as one of the founding fathers of Australia’s green building movement, Darren’s new role will see him drive the growth of Meinhardt’s building services group across Australia and New Zealand, ensuring integrated design thinking is central to every project outcome.

Meinhardt Australia CEO Sean Treweek said, “With credentials spanning over 20 years at Managing Director and Director level of both architectural and engineering firms, including board positions with the Green Building Council of Australia and the SA Division Council of the Property Council of Australia, Darren is well placed to help us restore Meinhardt to our former Tier 1 status in the Australian engineering community.”

Darren’s resume is a bevy of career-defining firsts, notably his involvement in the design and construction of Adelaide’s City Central Development, Australia’s first speculative green five-star development; becoming the first in Australia to obtain a USGBC LEED accreditation; and his position

as inaugural chair of the Property Council of Australia’s South Australian Division’s Sustainable Development Committee in 2002.

In the years since, Darren went on to become Adjunct Professor of Sustainability at Western Australia’s Curtin University, and has become a prolific property industry and green building advocate across the industry nationally, developing a passion for evidence-based decision making to deliver a better world and a better life for the people that live in it.

Darren said his national appointment was rewarding and timely. “After the unique opportunity of managing both architectural and

engineering firms, I am excited to help shape the future of a historically

significant engineering company, such as Meinhardt.

“This appointment could not have come at a more pertinent time. Our world is changing immensely in the wake of COVID-19, and to be appointed to a national role based in Adelaide highlights Meinhardt’s dedication and adaptability to a new way of working.

“With a focus on integrated design thinking, I hope to create a value- based approach within Meinhardt that maximises commercial and non- commercial returns for our clients.

“The talent we have in Adelaide is immense, and we are well and truly prepared to compete on a national and global level. I hope that my appointment becomes a case study for other national firms, and we see more national roles being based out of Adelaide.”

Darren’s experience encompasses multiple sectors within the property industry, including practice management, design, workplace strategy, engineering, urban governance, infrastructure, precinct planning, placemaking and integrated design management.

With a 60 year history as an engineering and project management juggernaut, Meinhardt Australia’s brand pillars of trust, innovation and excellence are exhibited in their projects worldwide. Sustainable solutions for complex projects that are both commercially successful as well as both time and financially efficient, their 4,500 strong team in 51 global offices are renowned for delivering high-quality projects and challenging the status quo in the engineering world.
