Melbourne Airport arrest

Police have arrested a man following a pursuit that ended at Melbourne Airport this morning.

Officers were initially called to Pascoe Vale Rd, Meadow Heights following reports of a suspicious vehicle about 2.30am.

Police attended and observed a black Nissan, which was allegedly displaying home-made paper numberplates, run a red light at the intersection of Shankland Boulevard and Pascoe Vale Road.

The vehicle was monitored and an attempt was made to intercept the car on Oaklands Road in Greenvale however the driver of the car refused to stop for police.

Police continued to monitor the car until a pursuit was initiated near the Melbourne Airport.

The driver, a 34-year-old Meadow Heights man, was arrested at the airport with the assistance of specialist police as he attempted to enter an airport car park.

He was taken to hospital under police guard after sustaining minor injuries during his arrest.

The Meadow Heights man is expected to be interviewed for driving, drugs and bail offences.
