Men arrested follwoing theft of military minenwerfer

Police from the Licensing and Regulation division have arrested two men following the alleged theft of an Australian War Memorial minenwerfer.

It is alleged the item was stolen in 2014 from the front of the Mount Bute Tennis Courts between 24 February and 7 March 2014.

The item had not been seen since until it was sighted on an online store where it was allegedly listed for sale in January 2019.

As a result of the listing, police executed a search warrant at an address in Winchelsea on 22 January.

Two men, a 34-year-old Winchelsea man and a 37-year-old Balintore man were arrested.

They are expected to be charged on summons with handle stolen goods.
