Message from Garry Cook, A/Executive Director, People, Culture and Safety

You’ve been hearing a bit lately about CFA’s commitment to ensuring we are a Child Safe organisation.

CFA is one of over 50,000 Victorian Organisations who must comply with the Victorian Government Child Safe Standards, which are legislated via the Child Wellbeing and Safety Act 2005.

It’s important for all of us to understand our obligations and responsibilities to help us to operate safely and avoid any risk around non-compliance.

The Child Safe Standards eLearning module explains the Child Safe Standards, describes CFA’s obligations under the compulsory Child Safe Standards, and identifies your responsibilities relating to the safety of children and young people under Victorian Law.

I urge you to log on and spend twenty minutes completing this module to help you understand what the Child Safe Standards are, how to identify suspected abuse or misconduct against a child or young person, your legal obligations to report child safety concerns and how to report concerns at CFA.

To access the Child Safety e-Learning module:

Log in directly to the module

OR

Access via the Learning Hub button on the main page and:

• Click on the Catalogue tab

• Select Community Safety and Engagement

• Select the Child Safe Standards option.

In either case you will need to log on to Brigades Online.

A hard copy handbook is currently being developed and will be available shortly if you prefer not to access this information on-line.

Thanks for your commitment to making CFA Child Safe.
