Metricon Homes has launched its first energy saver display home, which was developed in participation with our Zero Net Carbon Homes program. The new display home opened as part of Sustainable House Day yesterday, at Kaduna Park Estate in the south-east suburb of Officer.

The Metricon display home features a Delta 29MR design and has a number of high performance, energy efficient and renewable energy design features including a solar power system, LED lighting, increased insulation, double-glazed windows sensor extraction fans and draught seals.

All the features of this zero net carbon home are designed to make people feel more comfortable while reducing household expenditure on energy bills. The home is also tested for compliance to the increased specification once it is completed.

Sustainability Victoria’s Interim CEO, Carl Muller said, “The collaboration with Metricon is a step forward towards providing more accessible options to consumers who are looking to purchase an energy efficient home. Not only will the home stay warm in winter and cool in summer, this Metricon home will significantly lower household energy costs and cut greenhouse gas emissions compared to a standard new home.”

“Research identifies that energy efficient homes can improve health and overall wellbeing. Working with Australia’s leading home builder on this pilot program reflects a successful collaboration between the State Government and industry to deliver projects that will support Victoria’s goal towards achieving net zero emissions by 2050 as well as building better, more comfortable homes for Victorians,” added Mr Muller.

Peter Langfelder, Director and Victorian Housing General Manager at Metricon Homes said, “We are very proud to be working with Sustainability Victoria to not only open our first zero net carbon display home but to also launch an innovative new energy-saver bundle, available for a wide range of new Metricon homes in Victoria, as part of the Zero Net Carbon Homes Program.

“Our zero net carbon display home is aiming to inspire and educate the thousands of Victorians who are looking to build a new home, to consider energy efficient design features. That’s why we have worked with Sustainability Victoria to develop the Energy Saver Plus Pack to make building an energy efficient and environmentally sustainable home with Metricon easy.

“Metricon’s Energy Saver Plus Pack, includes a range of design inclusions. The sum of all inclusions is a Zero Net Carbon Home – a home that meets a 6.5 star NatHERS (Nationwide House Energy Rating Scheme) rating or above, has solar panels on the roof to produce renewable energy from the sun, is equipped with efficient appliances and will keep you comfortable all year round, and shave money off power bills.

The Delta 29MR zero net carbon display home is located at 4 Mortlake Drive, Kaduna Park, Officer and is open every day from 11am to 5pm.

Metricon will start offering the Energy Saver Plus Pack for homes across Victoria from 15 September 2019. Between now and 1 December 2019, they are also running a competition to give away three Energy Saver Plus Packs.
