Milloo dreaming, to showcase deep cultural connections

Swan Hill Regional Art Gallery will launch their new exhibition, Milloo Dreaming – This time in a Wetland, on Friday, 16 June 2023 from 6-8pm.

Art Gallery Director, Ian Tully said that the all Aboriginal art exhibition, is inspired by recent flooding across our region.

“First Nations artists from our region respond to the extraordinary rainfall and flooding with traditional weaving, drawings, paintings, sculptures, ceramics, historical artefacts, and photography.

“This exhibition will allow us to reflect on the deep connection between our First Nation’s people and the extensive network of rivers creeks, billabongs, lakes, and floodplains.

“Milloo dreaming will also feature historical photographs and artefacts borrowed from the Melbourne Museum, three pieces that originated from the Swan Hill region,” Mr Tully said.

Exhibition opening night will include a Welcome to Country by Aunty Stephanie Charles and Uncle Ricky Kirby and a performance by the Wiran Dance Group.

The exhibition will run from 17 June through until 30 July.
