Taree Airport will be a hive of activity on Saturday 5 September when emergency services take part in a routine emergency exercise.
The operation will replicate an aircraft incident adjacent to the runway and will include emergency services responding under lights and sirens to make the scenario as realistic as possible.
The exercise will take place throughout Saturday morning and is expected to conclude around midday.
Most activity will occur between the Manning Entertainment Centre and Taree Airport, with emergency services travelling under lights and sirens along Manning River Drive between the two locations.
Community members are being asked to be aware of their surroundings and keep an eye out for emergency vehicles on the roads during the exercise.
Taree Airport provides essential aviation services to the region and plays an important role in supporting emergency service operations, medical and aeromedical flights, and airmail and courier services.
The exercise provides an opportunity to test the readiness and coordination of local emergency services and ensure the airport and emergency personnel are prepared to respond effectively in the event of an incident.
