Mongols OMCG member arrested in Tugun, QLD

Detectives from the Gold Coast Major and Organised Crime Squad, assisted by the Australian Federal Police (AFP)’s National Anti-Gangs Squad (NAGS), and specialist police have arrested a 53-year-old man for drug trafficking offences.

The 53-year-old man and member of the Mongols Outlaw Motorcycle Gang (OMCG) was arrested following the execution of a search warrant in Tugun this morning.

He was charged with trafficking dangerous drugs and is expected to appear in the Southport Magistrates court tomorrow.

The Queensland Police Service, working in partnership with the AFP, commenced Operation Cyro investigating the trafficking of dangerous drugs identified on the ANØM platform during Operation Ironside.

Operation Ironside was an AFP and US Federal Bureau of Investigations investigation targeting organised crime, both domestically and internationally.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Nigel Bull from the Gold Coast Major and Organised Crime Squad said Operation Cyro demonstrates the close partnerships between the QPS and AFP.

“We are committed to investigating and targeting members of OMCG’s who threaten and impact the safety of our community. People who decide to be involved in gangs and engage in criminal activity should expect to be the subject of ongoing police attention,” said Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Bull.
