The ACT Government today opened grant applications for industry projects that will deliver more apprenticeship and traineeship opportunities and pathways into training for Canberrans.
The 2020-21 Future Skills for Future Jobs Grants Program will provide $990,000 for innovative projects delivered in partnership with industry to increase the uptake of Australian Apprenticeships.
Minister for Skills Chris Steel said the projects funded through the Future Skills for Future Jobs Grants Program would create more jobs and address future workforce needs in the ACT.
“The Future Skills for Future Jobs Grants Program provides another important part of our plan to create and protect over 250,000 local jobs by 2025. It also complements the $16.75 million Job Trainer fund which provides free training places for jobseekers and school leavers.
“The program will support Canberrans to attain skills that will be in high demand in the future and skills that will provide ongoing job opportunities here in the ACT.
“I encourage local businesses to consider innovative opportunities through this program that will increase the uptake of Australian Apprenticeships and address future workforce needs, particularly in growth industries such as healthcare, community services, renewable energy and cyber security.
The program is open to a range of organisations including employers, industry associations, community organisations, Registered Training Organisations and Group Training Organisations. The maximum amount of funding that can be sought is $300,000 per project.
