Public Order Response Team officers have detected a driver doing excessive speed in Hoppers Crossing tonight.
Police were undertaking speed checks on Old Geelong Road about 5.45pm when they observed a Mercedes Vito van travelling at an alleged speed of 142km in a 70km zone.
The vehicle was intercepted and the driver, a 27-year-old Truganina man was also found to be unlicensed.
The company vehicle was impounded for a period of 30 days and the driver is expected to be charged with offences including drive at a speed dangerous, unlicensed driving, exceed speed limit by 45 km an hour or more and drive in a manner dangerous.
He will be summonsed to appear at a Magistrates Court at a later date.
