Morphett Vale man arrested over copper cable theft, South Australia

A man has been arrested after copper cabling was allegedly stolen from a telecommunications pit at Morphett Vale yesterday.

At 3.30pm on Thursday 27 January, police received reports of three men appearing to be illegally loading copper telephone cable onto a trailer near a telecommunications pit at the corner of Elizabeth Road and Kenneth Road, Morphett Vale. The men were allegedly posing as telecommunications workers.

Police located the owner of the vehicle which was towing the trailer at an address on Wakefield St, Morphett Vale. They spoke with the owner, a 31-year-old man from Morphett Vale, and subsequently arrested him. He was charged with theft, fail to truthfully answer and cultivate cannabis.

Enquiries into this incident are continuing.
