Motorcycle rider caught 45km/h+ above limit in Kingsgrove

A man will face court after allegedly riding a motorcycle more than 90km/h over the speed limit in Sydney’s south.

About 12.10am (Monday 18th January 2021), officers attached the St George Highway Patrol were conducting speed enforcement operations on the M5 East Motorway, Kingsgrove, when they detected a Suzuki GSX-R 1000cc allegedly travelling at 177km/h in the sign posted 80km/h zone.

The male rider, aged 23, was stopped and spoken to by police before producing a Queensland driver’s licence.

The man underwent a roadside breath and drug test which returned a negative result.

He was issued a Field Court Attendance Notice for drive at speed dangerous to the public, and exceeding the speed by more than 45km/h.

The Queensland man will appear at Sutherland Local Court on Tuesday 23 February 2021.

His interstate driving privileges were immediately suspended.
