Motorcyclist dies after crash in Sydney’s west

A motorcyclist has died following a crash in Sydney’s west.

About 1.45pm yesterday (Friday 24 March 2023), emergency services were called to Station Road, Toongabbie, following reports of a three-vehicle crash.

Police have been told a silver Nissan Tiida collided with a motorcycle which was pushed into another stationary vehicle.

NSW Ambulance paramedics attended and treated the rider – 57-year-old man – at the scene, before he was taken to Westmead Hospital for treatment; however, he was pronounced deceased about 3.05pm.

Officers attached to Parramatta Police Area Command commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

About 4.10pm yesterday (Friday 24 March 2023), police attended the home of an 85-year-old woman who was placed under arrest and taken to hospital for mandatory testing.

She was then taken to Merrylands Police Station where she was charged with negligent driving occasioning death.

The woman was granted bail to appear before Parramatta Local Court on Wednesday 3 May 2023.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
