Motorcyclist injured after collision, NSW

A man has suffered serious leg injuries after his motorcycle collided with a car in the state’s south today.

About 2.30pm (Saturday 22 June 2019), a 55-year-old, North Nowra man, was riding a black Kawasaki ZX14 motorcycle travelling east on the Illawarra Highway at Macquarie Pass, near Robertson.

His motorcycle collided with a Volkswagen Amarock utility vehicle, travelling west.

The 29-year-old driver of the ute was uninjured and went to the assistance of the motorcyclist who had come to rest on the side of the road.

The injured man was treated at the scene before being airlifted to Westmead Hospital in a serious but stable condition. He required surgery on both legs.

Officers from Lake Illawarra Police District subjected the driver of the ute to a roadside breath test, which returned a negative result.

Police inquiries continue.
