Motorcyclist way over limit at O’Halloran Hill, South Australia

A motorcyclist has been reported after he was not only riding way over the speed limit but he was way over the blood alcohol limit this morning at O’Halloran Hill.

Just before 7am on Friday 12 April, a State Traffic motorcycle patrol were conducting speed detection duties in the 80km/hr zone on the north bound carriageway of the Southern Expressway, when he detected a BMW motorcycle travelling at 160km/hr.

The 36-year-old rider was stopped and interviewed over exceeding the speed limit, at the same time police also recieved a report from a motorist the same motorcyclist had been dangerously weaving in and out of traffic prior to being stopped.

The motorcyclist was breath tested and drug tested, astonishingly he not only returned a blood alcohol reading of 0.115 of more than double the legal limit, he also returned positive drug test to cannabis.

The Noarlunga Downs man was reported for riding at a speed dangerous to the public, and both drink and drug driving.

He was issued a six month instant loss of licence, his BMW motorcycle was impounded and he will be summonsed to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court at a later date.
