Mount Lawley assault investigation

Special Crime Squad detectives are investigating a serious assault that occurred on Sunday, 21 January 2024 in Mount Lawley.

Between 6.55pm and 7.10pm, a woman in her 40s was walking along Beaufort Street when near the intersection of Regent Street West, she was approached by a man known to her. He was wearing dark coloured shirt and pants, and had a dark blue backpack.

The man took the woman’s phone and smashed it on the ground before threatening and assaulting her. The woman tried to walk away down Regent Street West, but the man followed her and assaulted her again before running away. He was last seen running towards Clifton Crescent.

The woman received cuts and bruises during the assault.

It is believed several people were in the area at the time and saw the incident. Detectives urge these people to come forward, along with anyone who has any information relating to this incident by contacting Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or via www.crimestopperswa.com.au
